Aim:
The aim of this activity was to expose the Palasi Community
to qualified doctors and to raise their awareness regarding
the importance of their health, sanitation and nutrition and
to discourage the negligence in treatment by quacks etc. Besides
this main aim, the awareness about the project’s goals
and objectives through Urdu text messages was created.
Observations:
This event was highly appreciated by the community due to
free of cost qualified consultation, diagnosis in their own
languages, free medicines and facilities at their doorsteps.
There was a balanced participation from male, female and children
patients of the community. This was the first-ever direct
interaction with Palasi female and children through the project
and the first Medical Mobile Clinic in the valley.
There was over-expected participation of the community in
the camp. More than 421 patients were examined and diagnosed,
to whom free treatment was also given.
Conclusions:
· To get more confidence of the Palasi Community, such
camps must be organized on a regular basis (quarterly).
· To get female confidence in the HNS Sector, such
camps are a good opportunity.
· For female and children, it would be more appropriate
to have a lady doctor, trained nurse or lady health visitor
in the HNS sector. She will then be able to have thorough
interaction with females at village level independently for
more than 10 days in each village per month and will be able
to train local elder mothers as Trained Birth Attendants (TBA)
and interact with project goals/objectives to establish child
care centers.
The community prefers their females/children exposure and
examination to female trained staff and they have demanded
this favor in written form. Besides the quarterly mobile camps,
there should be a fixed medical camp at Sergaziabad being
a gateway or entry point into the valley, where on notified
6 days a lady doctor services can be hired and even the PO
HNS can spare 1-2 days in a week for treatment and examining
ailing communities and by this whole of the Palas valley can
benefit equally. Otherwise, mobile clinics in selected areas
will be beneficial.
