Development of People as Assets
In order to demonstrate forward looking attitude, the Palas Conservation and Development Project put emphasis on the development of local people as assets for achieving sustainable results in conservation and development of Palas Valley Strategic Human Resource planning of the PCDP was implemented thought effective recruitment and continues development of the project personal.

The one such example is that of Mr. Abdul Sattar Khan of Sherakot (Palas), District Kohistan (with F.Sc. Ist Division) who topped the list in the test and interviews conducted by PCDP management for the position of community facilitator and joined the project in July 2002. Keeping in view his qualification and professional vigor, he was recommended by his supervisor (PO Biodiversity) for two years training in B.Sc. Forestry in Pakistan Forest Institute, Peshawar. The Project Management Unit in consultation with conservator NWFP. Wildlife Department nominated him for B.Sc. Forestry and he joined Pakistan Forest Institute on 15-11-2003, for two years training.

Apparently, the story ends in the nomination of one staff member for training by the PCDP but the outcome of the intervention is that he will emerge as the first graduate (from district Kohistan) in forestry. The credit of setting precedence goes to sense of proportion.
